Beyond the Bandlewood is a 2D animated short film series based on Legends of Runeterra, a collectible card game in the League of Legends universe.
Directed and produced by Derick Tsai, the series brought together scattered Champions by centering the story on Ava, a young Bandle Scout on a quest to gather items for the Bandlewood Festival parade.
In collaboration with award-winning animation studio Sun Creature and composer Chad Cannon (Studio Ghibli), the series was inspired by Ralph Bakshi’s The Lord of the Rings, blending cozy storytelling with action-packed adventure.
The series boosted game sales and created an immersive storytelling experience that resonated positively with the League of Legends community.
